Grant money will save Vanc. cops' jobs
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Ten police jobs in Vancouver will be saved thanks to a federal grant that was supposed to add new officers to the force.
The Columbian newspaper reports that the Vancouver police department was originally given $2.6 million to hire 10 new officers - but the department then realized layoffs were necessary due to budget issues.
Now, the department of justice has agreed to allow the grant to be used to save the officers scheduled to be cut at the end of this year.
