Drunken driver hits teen in Aloha, deputies say

ALOHA, Ore. – A suspected drunken driver lost control of a car, drove onto a sidewalk and hit a teenage girl Thursday afternoon and then left the scene, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. at 185th and Farmington. Deputies found an abandoned BMW on the sidewalk.

The driver of the 2008 BMW, 25-year-old Bradley James Williams Gray of Beaverton tried to flee the scene but was tackled by witnesses in a parking lot about 100 yards away, deputies said. He was taken to the hospital and then to the Washington County Jail.

The girl, an 11th grader at Westview High School identified as Janae Doby, ended up with a broken leg and other non-life threatening injuries after she smashed into the hood and windshield of the car.

Witnesses told deputies that Gray was fishtailing his BMW after turning onto Farmington Road. He lost control and struck Doby from behind as she was walking on the sidewalk, deputies say.

Two men who detained Gray told deputies they had seen him exit his car and then run away from the crash.

Gray was arrested on suspicion of DUII, felony hit and run, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment and reckless driving. Bail was set at $20,000.
