Armed robbery at home in Cornelius leads to temporary school lockdown

CORNELIUS, Ore. – Echo Shaw Elementary School was locked down Friday afternoon following an armed robbery at a home in the neighborhood, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

The school was open again by 2 p.m.

Sgt. Bob Ray said a man returned to his home at 576 Jasper Circle at 12:04 p.m. and found another man carrying a rifle that belonged to the resident.

The intruder pointed a handgun at the man and ran away. The victim told deputies he saw the man run to nearby 571 S. Ivy Ct. Deputies searched that house, but determined the man had escaped in a vehicle.

The streets nearby are open again.
