Lost quilt for fallen soldier found on the side of the road

BORING, Ore. - A lost quilt that was meant for a fallen Oregon soldier's family has been found.
Kaye Hansen has helped stitch many of the more than 180 homemade quilts delivered by the Oregon Home of the Brave Project to families of fallen soldiers. She says each quilt is a replica of the Civil War quilts made by the Women's Sanitary Commission during the war.
"I want these families to know we appreciate their sacrifice - while that soldier's serving or if he doesn't make it home," she said.
Hansen recently lost one of the quilts, which was sealed in a plastic bag with a soldier's obituary on top, at the Portland Expo Center. She said she thought she left it in her car, but when she left it was gone.
On Thursday, we received word that the quilt had been found and returned to Hansen. Someone working at the Loaves and Fishes' MLK Center, which isn't too far from the Expo Center, found the quilt on the side of the road. The center's manager got in touch with Hansen after he saw her story on KATU.
"I am feeling very, very grateful for your sincere interest and the KATU coverage - and for the staff and volunteers at the Loaves and Fishes, MLK Center, who saw your story and did the right thing," Hansen wrote us in an e-mail.
Very glad it was found!
Yep... this has happened, I'm sure, to 99.9% of us..! Â Â I did that a couple of times when I had my little Honda station wagon (fortunately, nothing valuable)... don't do it anymore, though; I drive a Caravan now, and I'm too short to reach the roof easily enough to park anything up there..! Â Â
Â
Nice that someone found the quilt, though, and cared enough to make sure it was returned..! Â :-)
Yay for the quilt being found and returned! Thank you, to the anonymous person, for doing another good deed!Â
Likely, she left it on top of her car as she was loading up. I've done this (to my shame!) with a few things of value . . . . unlike those of you out there chuckling who I *know* have left that cup of "whatever" StealBucks wants to call it on top of your minivan and drove off . . . . . . you know who you are!
@Gravity Works! Mine was a Bently service manual. Yep, the book to work on the car.
Mine was a water bottle once, while fishing. And a small camera up in the hills. Never did find the water bottle, but went back and found the camera laying in the road...it does happen...:-)
