Neighbors never saw Holt, Heichel together

GRESHAM, Ore. – Police said Saturday there was no reason to believe that Whitney Heichel and her suspected killer were anything more than acquaintances.
Jonathan Daniel Holt, 24, was arrested Friday night in connection with the Gresham woman’s murder. Holt lived at the same apartment complex as Heichel and her husband Clint.
“I don’t know how we have these people around here, especially with our kids,” said neighbor Maria Sandoval, who lives in the same Gresham apartment complex.
Sandoval said she never saw Holt and Heichel together.
Another neighbor who was a close friend of Heichel's told KATU News that she had never seen Holt's face before Friday night's news conference.
Police said they received information that led them to Holt, but that information is unclear.
During interviews with Holt, police said there were inconsistencies in his story.
At the same time Holt voluntarily came in for an additional interview Friday evening, police said investigators discovered Heichel’s body. Holt was arrested at about the same time, police said.
He is expected to appear in Clackamas County court on Monday.

Holt grew up in East Portland and attended school in the Parkrose School District. Neighbors of Holt’s family told KATU News he was a Jehovah’s Witness.
“I see his wife with him,” Sandoval said. “I think he was married.”
Sandoval said she did notice some strange behavior from Holt, especially when he returned home from riding his motorcycle.
“He always wore his helmet all the time, never showed his face,” Sandoval said. “Like, why does this guy never take it off? He’s walking to his apartment, doesn’t need it anymore.”
Sandoval said she’s still in complete disbelief.
“I feel so bad. When I heard the news yesterday [that] they found her, I started crying,” Sandoval said. “How is it possible he did this to her? Why?”
Truly, why does any man, much older, ever have any sights set on such a young, innocent life? Why are they attracted to younger girls? Not quite women yet?Â
Â
I seriously have issues with these types of men.Â
Â
Tami has good points she raises. It is good to see her express them freely here.
Â
Thank you. BTW: http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/15346288/former-priest-alleges-system-of-cover-ups-of-abuse/
Is there any credible theory as to motive?
I hope that Whitney's closest friends and family DO NOT waste their time reading this forum. They do not need to see all the accusations and fool comments made by speculators. To those of you with pure motives, this comment does not apply to you. However, you may as well not waste your time on here. I'm done with it!!!
@K_Ice_Designs I am sure they have better places to recieve the comfort they need.
Beautiful young girl, married so young trying to be a grown up while still a child. If only her husband had cared enough to walk her to her car that morning. We would not be having this discussion.Dropped the ball Clint.Oh and about those possession charges on your record. You were how old when you got those ?? Were you shunned from congregation for those, did it make you angry Whitney found out, when you had to have that background check for work ?? Was she dissapointed in you ??? Did Holt give a shoulder for Whitney to lean on after all you were "brothers" from same Kingdom Hall. All is not as it seems people. Look out of the box.
Actually if you read anything from the family and stopped relying on your own warped attempt of reading between lines you would know that this monster Was Not a brother from the church. He was just a person who went sometimes. Shame on You.
@Tami Chavez What a horrible, horrible thing to post publicly here!! What's wrong with you???
@Tami Chavez,,,,,,, Nice way to blame a innocent person for a terrible crime done against a loved one.. good thing you are perfect and no evil can ever touch your life.. right???? your a sad case Tami Chavez,
Well...I've found a site that deals much better with Whitney's story than this forum does. It doesn't have the snarky zealots on there that seems to have found they're way here. Hope those of you with some intelligence also find it. I can honestly say that I haven't run into so many incredibly nasty and ignorant people as I have when this topic first opened. And isn't it funny...they claim to be religious LOL !!! The rest of you have my condolences. Hope you find the site also.
@Bewitchin1 Awwwwww.......and what a lovely person you've shown yourself to be!  A LOL back at ya.....BYE!!!!
@SameasEver Odd I just thought I read in one of her rants....She had "DECORUM" and has said nothing bad about (Her words) snarky zealots, yep that is real decorum and kindness......so long, enjoy your other forum before they throw you off that....
@SameasEver Well as you know, there are a few in every public place, I don't think it will detour the Witnesses, it seemed to me they were just replying to comments made about their religion, and I saw no nastiness in what they said...but you know, some people read things into everything to make it their way...
@SJ Yeah; it's just too bad that people like her chased away others.  I may have my own set of believes; but I was really enjoying watching people of her faith voice their thoughts and feelings about her and HER faith as well.  It just seemed so much more fitting a memorial to her life which was a happy thing until people went on the rampage about it.  People can be so thoughtless and cruel.....hope Whitney's supporters come back and finish this forum off with memories of HER and NOT the nastiness of others!!!
Why does this case have to be decided by the media? Can't they wait until the justice system reveals what happened? When will they leave this case alone, and let investigators do their job?
Again would like to know more about her husband. Did he work ? And why not get up and walk your wife to her car when it is dark , cold misty outside.?? Think of how this tragedy could have been averted.Whatever. Taboo topic it seems.......
@Tami Chavez Horrible how you're trying to blame the husband. What do you have personally against him that you're trying to discredit him on this forum? Do you know him personally? Has he done something to offend you at some point?   All you seem to do is attack his character. A young girl was murdered. Maybe Holt was to blame and NOT her husband????? Just a thought......Â
@Tami Chavez I asked on the find whitney FB page if they attended church together. The witness that runs that page removed my question. They would just verbally justify it anyway if he were a JW cultist. They would claim that yes, he was, but Satan was responsible somehow for this ONE act. Or maybe he didn't attend enough "meetings" or any number of excuses.
I-Miss - Verbally justify? How do you verbally justify murder? What religion are you? Maybe you are not part of a religion. If he isn't or if he is the same as you does that make you and others who believe the way you do responsible for his actions?
@Tami Chavez  I don't think his walking her to the car would have helped since I think, as I said earlier, that he intercepted her somewhere other than her apartment parking lot. I also think her murder wasn't premeditated. I think it was a spur of the moment thing...his erratic start and stops all over the area tells me he had come to realize what he had done and he was trying to figure things out...how to dispose of her. I think she was already gone prior to Dodge Park and Larch Mountain. For all we know, it could have been an accident. We don't know if she was shot, strangled, stabbed. She could have been hit by his car. We just don't know much.
@Tami Chavez Not exactly taboo maybe; but I think most people are aware that very question is already running in an endless loop through the husband's mind and dwelling on it can feel cruel to some.....
@Tami Chavez Somebody said he did work and that Tuesday was his day off...So he was at home when he got the call from Starbucks...
It only took once, RIP Whitney.
The public has a right to know what happened. They DON'T have a right to information when it could jeopardize the case. We'll know much more when this hits the grand jury. Until then, I'm content that the Gresham police may actually know how to do their jobs and aren't looking for a juicy "angle".
Â
Kudos to the GPD and Mayor Bemis for holding their cards close to the vest and supporting the family's wishes for privacy.
I have some questions and some of this stem from that new reveleation in the article that the neighbor thought holt and his family were also JWs...evethough they may have belong to a different hall..
Â
.I know ...NOT CONFIRMED...Speculation is mostly what we can do here becaue the police will not tip their full hand. It is like playing 5 card poker and only get to see 1 or 2 cards.
Â
1) How did police come to first know of him (Holt) for the volunteer drop by interviews? They says tips pointed them to his direction....Was it just because they wanted to interview everyone at the apartment complex? Remember this was before he provided his fingertips and DNA which they say was the nail that connected him to the SUV found in the Walmart parking lot....
Â
2) Did the JW's know of him and provide police with this tip? Had he already shown some sort of stalking mentality they had picked up on?
Â
3) How did the JWs know to search the Larch Mountain area? Police were not initially searching there until after the church found a license plate and some of her stuff....What led them to search that area so far from where the truck was dumped? If police had cell phone pings they would have most likely not shared that with anyone and started searching first, which they did not. They would have closed that down tight immediately as a possible crime scene.
Â
I have heard divine help with how the cell phone was found and how the church found some of her stuff, but really....I think there is more hear then we are being told about Holts acquaintance to Whitney...
Â
I am not speculating on them having some affair...not even crossing my mind....I am thinking how this unstable person came to become fixated on her.
@Duvie23 I asked those same things too. Was it a JW that tipped them off as to seeing an SUV up on Larch Mountain? How is it that they knew that? What were they doing up there?
@Bewitchin1 Those are good questions....dont get sidetracke by the JWs in here with their comments...they are not going to believe one of them could possibly do this...
@Bewitchin1 Relevance????  You said you always stay "on topic".  Hmmmmmmm
@SameasEver  You wear your ignorance like a dunce cap.
@Bewitchin1 Awwwwww....I can see why you'd be hurt by my mention of your nastiness when you're obviously such a nice person!  Thank you for your vigilance in making sure we're paying attention to forum rules.  I'm sure it's coming from that oh so good heart of yours!!!
@SameasEver And again...what nastiness have I spread???? I simply have stated that with all the proselytizing and scripture quoting, that this wasn't the place for that. A theology forum would be more appropriate. That leads to other discussions which take away from the topic we're all trying to focus on. That's all I've said. Now if you want to say that I've been nasty to responses I've gotten from JW members...well, nasty is as nasty does. My request was simple and with merit. And what "forum" rules are you talking about? Read them for yourself. So again...let's stay on topic. And your spelling "miss" was meant to p*ss you off. Happy?
@Bewitchin1 True....ish; my comment was meant more as a response to Duvie23, however, you've had a fine share in spreading the nastiness yourself so I'll just let my comment stand as is....so grammer issues OK but a spelling miss is offensive????  Just trying to keep up with your ever changing "forum" rules.
@SameasEver @Duvie23  You know....maybe you should follow your own advice. I have no idea what you're referring to. I have never said anything about a JW being involved in something other than supporting and searching for their church member. So I'm not sure where you're coming from. I'm always on topic...and learn to spell for gosh sakes.
@Duvie23  @Bewitchin1 When you don't read all the posts in full you wind up making stupid comments.  I believe it's been well covered by JW's themselves that a JW is only as good as he CHOSES to apply the things he learns; therefore, evil can happen even in their own congregation since not everybody is going to take their faith as seriously as they should.  Some are just hanging around for their own selfish reasons.  ANYBODY can claim to be a witness; doesn't make them one......How about "staying on topic" you hypacrites!
@Duvie23 There was a poster on here last night that said he knew Holt, was a good friend of his, and the usual he was a good guy thing and could have any girl he wanted and couldn't believe he would do that, another poster questioned him about that, and he said he knew because Holts mother turned him in, now I don't know if that's true or not, just what someone posted.
@Duvie23 In a report on another news broadcast it said after they found her SUV in the Walmart parking lot, the was mud on the tires, again I don't know if that is fact.
@Duvie23 Were they (JW's)  the first on the scene on this mountain? if so, why didn't they find her body first, instead of the cops?I'm not sure what you are asking, if you are asking if it was some sort of divine intervention, I couldn't tell you, maybe, maybe not, I broke my crystal ball a couple weeks ago, and haven't been doing real well....lol...
@SJ Short of a sign.....I cant imagine what would lead them to a wooded areas....
Â
Soil and vegetation markers not specific enough....
Â
Again if the police thought larch mountain first there is no way they would have let the church march around a crime scene possibly contaminating it...
@Duvie23 Like I said, that was just something I heard from the news in Washington, thewre have been so many speculations, there was more clues  inside the car that lead them to the mountain was what I heard,,,don't know..
@SJ Maybe if this was CSI Vegas they could analysed the dirt and found the
location of similar soil composition...sarcasm of course...I dont think that in this case...
Â
Car have ON-star or GPS tracking?
@Duvie23 Just speculation on my part but maybe the poster from last night was correct and Holt told his mother where she was, and she told him to turn himself in and he told them, I think when the JW's found the suv  at the walmart and the mud on the tires and some other clues in the vehicle that might have given them a clue to search the mountain, they were out searching for her before the police ever got involved, who knows, would like to find out but we may never know.
Amazing that the JW haters can't see how selfish they're being.  Deliberately trying to separate this beautiful young girl from her choice of faith simply because you don't want to hear about it....what about what SHE would want???  So NOT ABOUT YOU!!! Some of you want to discuss the case; some want to reflect on her life, what it stood for and how SHE felt about her faith....there is room for both discussions if you'd stop being uppity and full of yourselves.  We're all listening to you so SHUT UP and let others speak as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a non witness FB page to read about and discuss the case? The find whitney one is full of the cult members predicting the end times. No thanks.
@I_Miss So how exactly is JW's consoling each other by speaking of their religious beliefs when one of their own dies different from when, say, a Catholic dies and other Catholics posting things like, "She was too good for this earth so God took her" , "God needed her to be an angel", "She's smiling down on us from up above" "She's in a better place."?? Â
@NJ1964 It isn't different. It's all creepy. Catholics aren't date-setters though. Every other post on the find whitney FB page includes an end times prediction.
@I_Miss @NJ1964Â Not true I went to page and saw no dates :}
Let me highlight thqat last part again:
Â
"The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end".
Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20Â Â Â Â
@NJ1964 @I_Miss This info is easily out there...if you want you can do the reasearch yourself.
1914
1975
to name two...here's a quick one:
Â
"Does God's rest day parallel the time man has been on earth since his creation? Apparently so. In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of Gods rest day come to an end? The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"." Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20Â Â Â Â Â
@I_Miss still waiting for ALL of those posts with doomsday dates.
@I_Miss Exactly what date are these "date-setters" posting for the "end times"? Actual quotes from posts with specific date, pls. If it's "every other post" you should not have difficulty providing a few quotes and the dates should all agree if it's an actual dates or dates that the JWs are supposedly setting. Remember, there may be trolls posing as JW's posting things that JWs don't actually believe.......... ................ OK so, before I posted this I popped over on the site you mentioned. I read through at least 100+ of the most recent comments. Ummm, not ONE date. Lots of things like "Our condolences to the family" "RIP Whitney" "May God (Jehovah) help you through this difficult time" and similar. Is that what you consider "creepy"? Could not find ONE date by these date setters that you say are in every other post.Â
@I_Miss Get over it, they put up with you!
Oh my! This is getting so emotionally insane. eh? I think a JW finds comfort in their beliefs and voicing them because it's so much a part of their lives. This has to be an emotional event for all of them. On a small scale you can think of it this way. If a sports fan is reallly into sports and say someone from his/her favourite team goes missing and then found murdered the fan would have a special heartbreak, no? It doesn't mean they have no heart for others. Murders happen every day but when you are connected somehow in interest and belief to a victim you will most certainly hurt deeply because of it. because you have a kindred connection. (does that make sense?) so I would think a JW talking about their beliefs would console them and I agree with you. It's no different for them to speak their beliefs than it is for people in other faiths to voice what comforts them.
@I_Miss Unfortunately this is it. I don't see why we need to put up with them either :(
@Bewitchin1 I wonder why that is? ah could it be because she was a Witness? they seem to be putting up with you.
@Bewitchin1 I knew that was coming, the name calling, just shows your mentality, go take a hike troll.....
@SJ You'e an idiot. No one cares. Stay on topic.
@Bewitchin1 Maybe you need to go back and read what you wrote there pal, then tell me what you said, maybe it wasn't you who ask about a non JW FB page, but you were the first to respond with, as with most of your rants on here, when you said I don't know why we have to put up with them either, that was YOU, now time to check yourself or shut the hell up.
@SJ You're talking to the wrong person. I didn't ask anything about Whitney's FB page. Check yourself before you try to show off your brains. And stay on topic.
One more thing, that is Whitneys Facebook page, so if you don't want to listen to the Witnesses on there who loved her, go to someone elses FB page.
@SJ @Bewitchin1 Stay on topic.
@Bewitchin1 Take your own advice there witch, or Be something, can't see real well without my glasses....you don't want to hear from the Witnesses, leave them out of it.
@SJÂ Â Â Stay on topic SJ.Â
