Photos: Portland's 61st annual Greek Festival kicks off

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Friday kicked off the 61st annual Greek Festival in Northeast Portland that concludes Sunday.
As expected at the three-day affair, there was a variety of greek food, music and dance.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 3131 NE Glisan Street in Portland.
Mmm, baklava!
I want to make a quick important callout to Mary...

Dont bring your little lamb to the Greek festival
Great! I've been looking forward to some good Greek food! Even though not Greek, I love the food and can never ever find it out here on the West Coast! I am suffering souvlaki, pastitsio and taramosalata (sp?)Â withdrawals! And no, a gyro sandwich is not my idea of Greek food!
@jpk There are several Greek restaurants/deli's in the area. Mad Greek Deli and Alexis are two that come to mind right now. Yum! Dolmathes is my favorite. My Mother-in-Law makes the best pastitsio!
@leapfrogger I've looked all over the place, including the Macedonia in Salem. Now that I've got pastitsio on my mind, I am searching online for recipes. Most of them are geared to feeding half the Greek Army though. All I want is for 4 people!
@jpk  @leapfrogger I just made pastitsio last week. Hubby and son scarfed it down!!
@jpk Since pastitsio is a bit of task to make, you could always freeze what you don't want to eat right away couldn't you? I've never tried it but it seems like it should work. In fact, maybe I should make some too ~:-D
