Woman found at SW Portland apartment victim of homicide

PORTLAND, Ore. – A woman found dead at a Southwest Portland apartment was a victim of homicide, the medical examiner said Wednesday afternoon.
Jaime Lyn Larson, 33, was found dead at the Park Terrace apartments at 2073 S.W. Park Ave. at around 10 p.m. Christmas Day.
Larson worked at Affiliated Computer Services in Tigard. One of her co-workers said she was always smiling and was friendly.
Police have not said how Larson died or who called them about her death, but they carted away several bags from her unit and searched a trash bin throughout the day Wednesday. A neighbor hadn't seen Larson for about a week.
"This was a horrific crime that you never expect to happen to a family member, and losing a loved child on Christmas Day makes the loss especially painful," said Larson's family in a statement released by police.
Police called homicide detectives and set up a mobile command center after the initial investigation inside the apartment. Before the medical examiner determined Larson was a victim of homicide, police considered her death suspicious.
They have not identified any suspects or made arrests in the case, police said.
They said they will not be releasing any more information about Larson's death at this time, citing the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
But they are asking members of the public to contact them if they saw her or spoke to her recently and observed any suspicious activity near the apartment complex.
According to law enforcement sources, investigators have interviewed several people who knew Larson.
Those sources also said it was not clear if it was a homicide at first and there was some debate on the issue as the investigation proceeded.
Larson's family set up an account to pay for funeral expenses. Donations can be made to any Banner Bank location under the name Jaime Lyn Larson.
Police ask that anyone who has information about the case to contact Detective Molly Daul at (503) 823-0991 or via email: Molly.Daul@PortlandOregon.gov.
She was a really great girl. Shy, nerdy and beautiful. I really enjoyed talking to her and I am sad to know she is no longer with us. I hope justice is served hard and cold.
This is the cousin to my cousin, and I feel for the family of Lason! I went through the same affects of murder as my cousin is going through, when my friend Whitney Heichel was murdered back in October.... R.I.P Beautiful Angels <3

@Jerry Larson Not sure if you're related to Jamie, but people who knew her boyfriend, Tim, are convinced this morning that he killed her. A number of individuals are aware of Tim's history of violence... that he routinely beat her. (Note to KATU: Significant developments concerning this case this morning and you people are asleep.)
@Doctor_Who Have there been any developments in this case that you can share with us?
I too was wondering about Tim and all the pets? Oddly silent on all details?
Larson's boyfriend, Tim Ruppel, has got to be suspect number 1. But, then, according to court documents they took out restraining orders against each other. The couple had a contentious history that went back to 2008--only it looks like Ruppel got the upper hand this time. Don't these stories show up just after the New Year? I feel sorry for both of them.
So sad to hear of your demise Jaime. Praying that your family and friends find peace and solace and remember the happy times with you during the next days and weeks. It has been a horrid month for tragic deaths locally and nationwide. Hoping this crazed nonsense ENDS.
A family lost a daughter, sister, mother, friend. Sad at any time of the year, but now her death is linked to Christmas . My sister was killed on my Dad's birthday and it hung over that special day for the rest of his life. My heart goes out to her family.
@The Resistance I am indeed sorry for your loss, Sir. I have seen too much death and this time of year was the worst. I do not do Christmas because I had to watch my mother and she was only 57.
I am sorry to know your story, send to you my best wishes for you and your family. I am old man, and I still wish I still had my mother.
Jaime....dear girl from the bus...I shall miss you.
Such terrible news! Â Hopefully the police will be able to quickly solve (if they haven't already) the crime and hold someone accountable and give Ms. Larson's friends, family, and neighbors peace of mind (and, hopefully, some understanding).
Â
I'm curious to see if there is any link to the woman who was raped over by PSU not that long ago. Â I hope not because, if it is, this person has clearly escalated his crime.
Rest in peace, Jaime Larson... Â Condolences go to her family and friends for their loss...
No one should die this way (murdered)... sadly, it is all too commonplace...Â
@margay1 Thank you. It really means a lot to us.
KATU,was it the SE corner of SW Portland, or vice-versa? Or could it have been Park Avenue in NYC? Â

I suppose it could have been a gun Harry, but think about it, an apartment in downtown Portland. I would think that neighbors might call if they heard a gunshot or two in the building. People have been killing each other since people were people. My guess is they started with their hands and moved on to clubs and rocks. Using bare hands is the 3rd most common way to murder someone in this country.
@HarryJuku ~ Oh c'mon, Harry... we all know you hate guns.. give it a rest for a while...
@HarryJuku  I can almost hear you salivating at the prospect.
Headline says SW, article says SE....come on, proof read, KATU!!
@Doc Holliday  This is just KATU's way of bringing us all together. It is their way of eliminating the boundaries that separate and divide us all. Kumbayah!
@Doc Holliday Jouralism isn't what it used to be, by golly.
Â
So sad to hear of this woman's death. Someone got some bad news on Christmas, that is really sad. I hope they figure out how she died and who is responsible. My condolences to her family.
@Doc Holliday Article says both, lol.
