Two hurt in head-on crash near Estacada

ESTACADA, Ore. – Two people were injured in a head-on crash on Highway 224 Tuesday.
Police said it happened west of Estacada at 3 p.m.
Jason W. Green was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on the highway when it crossed the center line and hit a Chevrolet Aveo head-on, according to police. The Jeep rolled onto its side after the collision.
Both Green and the driver of the Aveo, 18-year-old Victoriia MacDonald, were taken to OHSU in Portland. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening. Both were wearing seat belts.
Police cited Green for careless driving and driving uninsured.
 it's cheaper for these guys to buy a car and drive it uninsured than to pay for insurance. the chance of getting caught is slim and getting better as police budgets get cut. some guys would have to pay close to $10,000 for insurance a year to drive with their driving records. some people just shouldn't be allowed to drive.Edit (5 minutes)
Lower the speed limit to 5 MPH and save lives
They said the age of Victoria MacDonald, the driver of the Aveo, but how old was Jason Green?Â
@washcomomÂ
Found it in the story on Oregon Live - he is 40.
Probably a senior citizen. They are responsible for 99% of road accidents according to research conducted anecdotally by myself.
@Oregon7812Â Which is worthless.
@Oregon7812 @Old29 @washcomom Jason Green, age 40, from Metolius.  http://www.ktvz.com/news/Metolius-man-hurt-cited-in-Hwy-224-crash/-/413192/19206506/-/nlifp8/-/index.html
@Old29Â @Oregon7812Â Nope - it's peer reviewed (by my friend at the bar) and conducted over a number of years. It's VALID!
Hope everyone will be alright. I'm glad to hear the young lady in the Aveo didn't have life threatening injuries. Goes to show how advanced safety in small cares as improved.
Good lord, how friggin' hard is it to keep your vehicle in it's lane!?
@NGerblanskyÂ
Too many people don't pay enough attention when they're driving. You can see people weaving around in their lane, crossing the line into other people's lanes, etc. all the time anymore. People think they can take their eyes off the road for a moment to do something, but it doesn't take much for your vehicle to drift over into another lane (especially if it needs an alignment). It's why when I'm driving I have a rule that unless it's to check another lane or whatever, I don't take my eyes off the road. You need something? You have to do it yourself or wait until I'm not driving. Getting you your drink, the phone out of my purse, etc. is nowhere near as important as being safe.
@NGerblansky If yer stupid enough to drive without insurance, yer stupid enough to drive out of your lane. I hope Ms. MacDonald files a civil suit that leaves this fool with an enlarged donut hole.
Oh...lookie another mysterious car crash....there must be some way to blame this on cyclists or pedestrians. Perhaps, because joggers and cyclists consume so much air. The only thing that is certain is that drivers are the most dangerous things on the roadway so much so that even people "safely" bucked in and driving around in state of the art safety cages cannot be protected; think of the danger that irresponsible drivers represent to pedestrians and cyclists.
@Agness P Weatherby You're just being goofy.  There's got to be some way to blame this on Obama and those worthless libtards.
Ford fender? Rooster tail? or Wedding ring spinner?
let me know the route you cycle on...maybe the color of bike and gear....ooooops
NOWhere in this article does it even reference bikes or peds. Take your bicycle nazi propaganda somewhere else. Troll
@LostSoul Bravo for the "Nazi=Propaganda" line; sadly you Goodwin'd yourself. Loser.Â

@LostSoul Agness must be off her meds today, so we must be kind to the car hater. She is having a melt-down.
@feral Actually, that would be a great protest. For a week every cyclist drives their car to work rather than riding. Bumper stickers saying: don't you wish I were riding my bike; I do because if I had; I'd already be there".Â
@LostSoul Yes, it is an ironic statement and comentary piece. Every article about bikes is trolled by bike haters who blame all the social ills on cyclists and blame cyclists for being hit regardless of the circumstances or the obvious negligence of the driver at fault. Â
The point being that drivers hit all kinds of things with their cars and bad driving has nothing to do with cyclists. Thanks for providing me the opportunity to make that explicitly clear...for all the ignorant children that were confused.Â
Don't get my started on bike riders. I completely agree with you Agness that they are the cause of most accidents.
@Agness P Weatherby snicker..... spunky! Atta girl....
"Police cited Green for careless driving and driving uninsured."
We need a law that requires forfeiture of any vehicle driven without insurance. The vehicles should then be auctioned off and the money placed in a fund to compensate victims and pay the damages caused by uninsured motorists.
Police should be given the role of judge, jury and executioner. If they don't agree with your explanation they have the right to shoot you.

@feral @I812 Sounds like you are one of the guilty ones?
@feral @I812 The fines for drunk driving should increase dramatically if the drunk driver is involved in a crash involving other vehicles, people or property, and that amount should go to a restitution fund.Â
Driving without insurance is both illegal and unwise. An uninsured motorist can be sued in civil court and end up spending the rest of their life paying for a stupid mistake. Think about it.Â
@I812 The libs will whine about people loaning their cars and losing them like they did with drug seizures...
@FreedomRocksÂ
If you loan your car out to someone and you don't have insurance on it, then that is your problem. If you don't have insurance, no one should be driving your vehicle.
@FreedomRocks Since the law requires liability insurance as a minimum, it shouldn't make any difference because the owner is responsible for insurance irrespective of who is driving.
@FreedomRocks @I812 I am not assuming anything. I am saying it is the owner's responsibility to have insurance on the vehicle, regarless of who is driving. It is also the owner's responsibility to insure that the vehicle is operated within the terms of the insurance coverage. Some coverage will not extend to the person who may have borrowed a vehicle.Â
None of this changes my initial statement. An uninsured vehcile should be impounded and auctioned off. Citations and fines alone rarely work. To change peoples' behavior requires that it be financially infeasible for them to continue not to comply with the law.Â
@I812Â @FreedomRocks You are assuming that who owned it did insure it. May not be the case...
Ouch, glad everyone is alright for the most part.
