Woman and child badly burned when fire races through Vernonia home

VERNONIA, Ore. - A 64-year-old woman and 12-year-old boy were badly burned in a house fire in Vernonia.
The fire broke out just before 3 p.m. Friday at a home in the 900 block of E. Bridge Street.
By the time firefighters got there, the house was fully involved and flames were threatening a neighboring structure.
The woman and boy had managed to escape the burning home but they suffered severe burns and were transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.
It took about three hours for firefighters to get the blaze under control. They were able to save several cats and some chickens.
The cause is under investigation.

I live in Vernonia
I know the boy who got hurt...please get better soon!!!!
Not to be nit-picky, but I've never seen fire race anything, except someone running from it. Of course, I've never seen a pipe chase event either.
I sure hope they survive their burn wounds!
Best wishes and hopes for the full recovery of this lady and the young boy... burns are such terrible injuries..! Â Â

Glad that the firefighters were able to save the kitties and the chickens..! Â Â Whatever other issues we might have with gov't, our 1st responders are 1st class..! Â :-)
