No Christmas at Nordstrom... Until after Thanksgiving

PORTLAND, Ore. – You may have seen Christmas decorations popping up at your favorite stores.

It is after all, the beginning of… November?

At least one Portland store is holding off the Christmas decor until the day after Thanksgiving.

Nordstrom managers told KATU News the store's long-standing policy of no Christmas cheer until Black Friday is still true this year.

It’s a stark difference from other stores, like Wal-Mart, which just had an “early black Friday” last weekend.

Nordstrom is sneaking in some holiday-like promotions on its website, but the red and green will stay out of stores until Thanksgiving is over.

The National Retail Federation calls Nov. 1 the start of the holiday season. It predicts an increase in holiday spending this year, projecting the average shopper will spend more than $700.
