- HILLSBORO, Ore. - Search engine company Yahoo says it has
picked Hillboro to be the home of its new customer service center.
Yahoo officials chose Oregon because of inexpensive real estate
and the state's proximity to its San Francisco-area headquarters.
The center will provide 170 jobs and is expected to open in
August.
Sixty of the jobs will be filled by Californians who have
volunteered to relocate.
The annoucement follows word that Yahoo! competitor Google may open a technology center in The Dalles, possibly creating about 100 new jobs there.
