I have Windows 8 Pro with Media center . basically I have Ultimate equivalent. "Media Center" is added nothing more can be added. I am actually enjoying everything for once. And Microsoft, giving out the Pro version along with Free Media Center? that is over a 200 dollar savings for those of us that activate early. oh and hehe, the Surface's there selling..have home premium. ouch they will have to pay the 69.00 bucks to use the "media center" if they want it.
onthe side note Microsoft did come out with an update for camera compatibility pack. I guess a few of us were stating what about MPG and MTU. that has been fixed.
Seems like lots of employees standing around, haven't seen many people standing in line. The Windows 9 SDK is already being rolled out. The MS store looks just like a Apple store right down to the employee shirts, name tags, wood tables etc. Is there anything MS won't steal?
@Jamie Odd question, asking if there is anything that Microsoft won't steal, considering that it was Microsoft who came out with the first Tablet for public consumption about a decade ago. In fact, when you go back through their history, Apple has essentially innovated nothing. They have always taken what someone has done first (eg., tablets, cell phone, music player, GUI, mouse, etc), shined it up and slickly advertised it.
And the lemmings, Jamie, line up to walk right off the cliff...
@stephcra  @Jamie what you say is true strike indeed, I am a witness to to that, before the tabs came out for Apple, When I as at the ER , I seen a Doctor with a fancey tablet and it was not an Apple device. and it was using windows. It had a HD camera and the doctor that was using it was a geek too lol. I was asking questions and he said yup, this is a tablet from Microsoft, It was given to me by my son who works for MS . but he had all the medical software loaded in to that thing and man was he good at using that thing. he said that he used the cam to photo graph cases of child abuse and neglect and or elder abuse and neglect and it had a very nice 3d image of the human anatomy, (Photos of patients not shown)
Â
at any rate the thing was working nicely for him and the hospital. More and more doctors started getting the device as well. They could show the patients there medical scans as well.
@stephcra Certainly you'll never read about WP7/8 thefts and the like. Funny how companies like Microsoft only worked on their crappy GUI after the Macintosh was a success. Apple also bought the rights the Xerox-Parc gui back in the day. They didn't steal anything. Microsoft has been playing catchup for a long time.. and now they're losing.
@Jamie  @stephcra  @RandyH the only time I crhased windows 8 was from my own stupidity, aside from that windows 8 has not crashed. the photo ap glitches now and then but that is a minute issue. I can run software on this that does crash Windows 7 .
@RandyH  @stephcra  @Jamie Oh you didn't hear, APPLE lost the samsung lawsuits. and there stupidity is in the form of there iPhones nav systems. Apple is not impervious it can and will fail sometime, every company fails, it how it recovers from failure that makes it great..Linux..Now there is an interesting OS.
@Jamie You clearly have not used Windows in years and years. I used to support Macs, too. They crash just as often, get viruses and because Apple does so much to make them user friendly to the "geniuses" who use them, they are hell to support.
Apple fan boys live in an insular bubble in which things like facts and logic simply do not apply. If Windows was so terribly flawed and the Mac OS so amazing then corporations around the world would use it. As I mentioned previously, there are no Fortune 100, 500, 1000 or whatever number you want to use companies that use Macs to run their business for the simple reason that Microsoft does everything to tune what they do for business use. Apple does everything they can for the type of person who lives in the Pearl District or the old guys who still have the "Think Different" posters on their walls.
Apple makes boutique computers, period. They are not designed for business. They are designed for hipsters to use while sipping lattes at a coffee house and who think that owning a Mac is the same as being smart and educated. It is not.
While Steve Jobs, the biggest snake oil salesman this planet has ever seen, was obsessed with making PC's that had various shiny colors and music players with a slick interface, Microsoft was creating things like the .NET Framework, Visual Studio and a variety of other things that help businesses actually make money.
Sorry to sound like a jerk, but it's not a surprise that you are an IT guy and a Mac fan boy. You really don't know what you are talking about at all.
@stephcra  @RandyH Yes, "Windows will still be on almost every computer in the world", getting endless updates every other day, crashing, and basically hindering a users ability to complete actual work. Unless of course you strip most of the drivers down and block many of the services like most companies have to do just to get the OS to work with various products. Updates can only be rolled out after thoroughly being tested. It's a pain-in-the-ass and creates unnecessary, but required over head just to support the freaking OS. Having to lock down a client just because users used to bring in apps from home and wind up crashing the system, thus logging a help desk call is absolutely retarded. Yes, Windows might be the desktop for a large percentage of users, but do have any clue the lengths those of use in IT have to go to make them work?? The Macs I support don't have this issue. I honestly long for the past of dealing with terminal servers and dumb terminals.
@RandyH "Apple definitely won't follow this stupidity."
You're probably right. I mean Apple has never been in a situation in which they had a massive amount of market share in a certain product that they sold and then, through one jaw-droppingly stupid decision after another not only lost essentially all that market share, but almost went out of business and had to be saved by another company...you know, another company like Microsoft.
You see, the reason why Apple will eventually throw up all over itself is because their customer base is made up primarily of people who purchase products not for their actual functionality, but their "coolness" factor. The moment the wind changes a little and Apple starts to appear uncool, they will do again what they did in the 80's.
Now I will give it to Apple: they do some really shockingly uncool and often atrocious things and it hasn't cost them yet, owing more to the fact that most Americans are amazingly obtuse and self-absorbed. They have convinced the world that they are creative and innovative when all they do is shine up already existing products and play into people's overwhelmingly desire to be popular. They are known for having a leader who was a tyrant, treated employees terribly, abandoned his daughter and, while being a multi-millionaire, never donated a single dime to charity, yet he is somehow revered by the dumb-as-a-second-coat-of-paint Mac fan boys as a saint. Apple outsources it's work, not an uncommon practice, but creates such heinous conditions in its Chinese factories that the buildings have to put up nets around their tops to keep its workers from leaping to their deaths to escape making iPods and iPhones.
No, Apple won't follow the "stupidity" of Microsoft. They will continue making their peripherals and other knick-knacks until someone who seems cooler does it and they end up just like they did in the 80's...and Windows will still be on almost every computer in the world.
@Jamie  @stephcra Fantastic rebuttal! My argument is based on facts, that Microsoft, by a massive margin, owns the computer world. You argument: stop living in the past. Well played, sir or madam. Well played.
@stephcra  @Jamie Microsoft OS has turned into trash, if you have stock sell it while its worth something.  Apple definitely won't follow this stupidity.  Anyone buying Windows 8 has an IQ lower than a rock.
@stephcra I dumped Windows because of the endless updates and the BSOD. You can live in the past all you want, but the fact of the matter is Microsoft is playing catch up.
@Jamie Microsoft is losing? How much of the worldwide desktop OS market share does Apple have? 6% How much does Microsoft have? Over 90%
And Apple did not buy the rights for the GUI or the mouse. They went into XEROX PARC and stole it. This is common knowledge. XEROX PARC agreed to pre-IPO Apple shares in exchange for engineer VISITS. Not to go in and steal their ideas, which is exactly what Apple did. Again, common knowledge.
Apple is a peripheral company, period. They make souped up Walkman's and cell phones. They are not a computer company. Don't believe me? Then ask yourself how many of the Fortune 100 companies run their businesses on Apple computers? How about Fortune 500? Fortune 1000? Fortune 1,000,000? No companies run on Apple computers because they are inferior for anything other than trying to make the user feel superior to others. Don't agree? Again, go look up the market share. It's not even close.
Go back to the coffee house in the Pearl and slobber over your wonderfully designed phone or bigger phone that doesn't take calls (iPad) and gush about how intuitive they are. Microsoft and Linux will be busy actually helping the world run.
Hmm those keyboards sure are thin. wiat do those things "Light up"? now that is cool.
I have Windows 8 Pro with Media center . basically I have Ultimate equivalent. "Media Center" is added nothing more can be added. I am actually enjoying everything for once. Winders 8 is proof MS has druggies working for them.
Yep. Those stores are sure packed. Glad there's no employees pictured just standing around.
Seems like lots of employees standing around, haven't seen many people standing in line. The Windows 9 SDK is already being rolled out. The MS store looks just like a Apple store right down to the employee shirts, name tags, wood tables etc. Is there anything MS won't steal?

@stephcra  @Jamie Also apple tried to derail Samsung, that failed miserably.
@stephcra Aren't we the bitter one. You really should seek help for your issues.
