Nike on Tuesday hosted a bash in New York City to unveil the next generation of its digital technology and announce a new business accelerator.
The headline innovation was the Nike+FuelBand SE, the latest version of the Nike+ FuelBand, a wrist-worn activity monitor.
The Washington County footwear and apparel giant also announced it has updated the Nike+ FuelBand App that works in conjunction with the FuelBand.
As reported by the Business Journal this summer, digital products are a key part of Nike's growth strategy.
"We continue to innovate around the Nike+ ecosystem to deliver the very best experiences for our consumers, motivating and inspiring athletes at all levels," said Stefan Olander, Nike's vice president of Digital Sport. "The Nike+ Fuel Lab, along with the new Nike+ FuelBand SE and Nike+ Apps significantly enhance our NikeFuel platform."
The new business accelerator builds on the success of Nike's first business accelerator. Unfortunately for Portland, the new accelerator will be housed in San Francisco. It will be known as the Nike+ Fuel Lab.
