OMSI taps old friend to execute its 6-acre expansion

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry has found a partner to help it expand to the south of its 1945 S.E. Water Ave. campus.

OMSI said Thursday it has hired Portland-based ZGF Architects to identify opportunities for its plans to extend its facilities to the 6.4-acre site south of the existing campus.

ZGF previously worked with OMSI to create a long-term vision for its campus on the east bank of the Willamette River.

The next phase of the project includes modifying the original plan to identify opportunities and barriers, recommend proper uses of the land, engage neighbors and other stakeholders to build support, create a framework to guide development, ensure OMSI’s mission and generate timetable to carry out the expansion.

OMSI was established in 1944.
