Oregon's unemployment rate unchanged, report says
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A state report says Oregon's unemployment rate hasn't changed.
The monthly report released Tuesday by the state Employment Department said the jobless rate was at 8.4 percent in February, the same as in January. The rate has been within a range of about half a percentage point for more than a year.
A year earlier the rate was 8.9 percent. The rate is based on a survey of households, and the figures are seasonally adjusted.
The report said a federal government survey of employment showed the state added 6,800 jobs in February, all but 800 in the private sector. The state's total nonfarm payroll employment is more than 1.6 million.
This is the jobless recovery. Wait until the next downturn. Of course, King Kitzhaber has asked us to hold him accountable. How many will join me in holding Kitzhaber accountable at the next gubernatorial election? He has been great at spending taxpayer money but he hasn't a clue as to how to stimulate growth in permanent, sustainable private sector jobs that actually add to the government revenue stream instead of take from it.Â
it,s gotten wores not the same it,s just they don,t count people whom have been out of work for more then 1 year
@Sherry L Campbell After looking at just a few of your posts I can imagine why you may have trouble getting a job. Education is a beautiful thing.
Some people enjoy being unemployed, but bureaucrats always benefit by having more unemployed, so don't expect problems like this to ever be resolved.
Curious if the numbers include people who do not qualify for unemployment anymore, so they do not register. How do they come up with these numbers?
@Julie The rate is based on a survey of households and at the same time they work for family feud.
@Julie If you are looking for work, you are counted as unemployed. Unemployment Ins. is not a factor.
@Julie
No, they don't. That's why the rate is artificially low.
@WebFootSTi @Julie By that logic, they've been doing that all along so at some point....

@Molly Head @Julie You realize that's not really her picture and she's a guy, right?
@Molly Head @Julie Be there - just putting last minute touches to my makeup.
What do they expect when all the State can do is tax,tax tax. Glad I left 6 years ago and took my Pers benefits with me to a state with no state income tax. Oregon is quickly becoming the new Detroit. Gotta love it, good luck with your food carts and minimum wage jobs.
That "tax, tax, tax" is to pay for your PERS. Thanks for that!

Nice!!
Now thats what you call liberalnomics........
I believe  the first year of  the first go round for the good Dr. ReRun  was the last year  our great state had lower than the national average unemployment.Â
Higher than average unemployment for the last two decades...... and Liberal leadership for the last twenty plus years
coincidence? Â NOT A CHANCEÂ
Well, THAT certainly came as a surprise.
@danoseknows Should come as no surprise at all. As unemployment benefits run out, the rate is bound to go down. As long as you don't cloud the issue with the fact so many more people STILL don't have jobs, some will keep drinking the kool-aide too.
