Pelosi says no budget deal without tax rate hikes

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says she's hopeful lawmakers can come to a deal to avoid a year-end "fiscal cliff" but any agreement has to include tax rate increases for the wealthy.
She tells ABC's "This Week" that she can't accept a deal that caps deductions and closes some loopholes but does not alter current tax rates for the wealthy.
The California Democrat says "just to close loopholes is far too little money" and other ideas have to be considered. Republicans have suggested they are open to finding more revenues.
Lawmakers are facing expiration of the George W. Bush-era tax deductions and across-the-board spending cuts that automatically hit in January — the result of Congress' failure to reach a deficit-cutting deal last year.

Republicans used to stand for fiscal responsibility. Those days are over. They are the party of tax and spend and the only difference between them and Democrats are a few social issues.
The American people need to render the sitting Senate and Congress invalid and start over. The current members of the Senate and Congress are supposed to be managers of this country. The level of squabbling, gross mismanagement and perverse spending and over-regulation has become a bacteria feeding on its host.

Time for a 10 day does of antibiotics.
Pelosi has caused almost as much damage as obozo did/does. Time for congress to take a vote telling her to sit down and shut the hell up.
@theobserver And yet neither one of them has done more to hurt this countries economy than Boehner, McConnell and the Republican congress with their obstructionist "no on anything that will increase growth" ways.
Filibuster reform introduced last week can't come fast enough. Make them stand in front of the house or senate and actually debate why they don't like an idea instead of simply saying they don't and rendering no way of voting on the matter as it is now. I would have liked to have seen a Republican stand in front of Congress and argue that giving veterans jobs through a fully funded bill was a bad idea.
Thanks a lot comrade Pelosi !
