A Portland-based company has put together one of the coolest images you’ll ever see.

Technology created by GigaPan, a company that creates incredibly high-resolution images, stitched together about 900 individual images to create a 1.3 billion pixel image of the Mars rover Curiosity.

Again, that’s 1.3 billion pixels.

The level of detail is stunning – zoom in on the photo as far as you’d like, and you can see the planet’s surface in minute detail.

“We hope this level of interactivity will not only support the mission’s overall research goals, but also help increase public interest in the Mars exploration program,” said GigaPan CEO Josh Friedman.
