... WINDY CONDITIONS IN THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY AND IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON INTERIOR THIS EVENING...
... LOWERING SNOW LEVEL POSSIBLE IN THE SOUTH WILLAMETTE VALLEY AND ADJACENT HIGHER TERRAIN LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING...
EXPECT SOUTH WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 40 MPH THIS EVENING IN THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY AND ALONG THE INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR UP THROUGH CLARK AND COWLITZ COUNTIES OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON. THE WINDS ARE BEING PRODUCED AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT. WITH SATURATED WET GROUND... SOME TREE DAMAGE IS POSSIBLE FROM THESE WINDS THAT COULD CAUSE LOCAL POWER DISRUPTIONS. THE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DECREASE BY AROUND MIDNIGHT.
IN ADDITION... COMPUTER MODELS ARE FORECASTING THAT SNOW LEVELS COULD LOWER TO 500 FEET OR LOWER IN AND AROUND THE SOUTH WILLAMETTE VALLEY LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING. ON OCCASION... VERY HEAVY RAINFALL RATES WITH A DYNAMICALLY STRONG COLD FRONT CAN BE SUFFICIENT TO DRIVE SNOW LEVELS TO VERY LOW LEVELS. THIS COULD HAPPEN IN THIS CASE. SNOW LEVELS COULD LOWER TO 500 FEET OR LOWER BY EARLY THURSDAY. IF THIS DOES HAPPENS... AND IT IS NOT CERTAIN THAT IT WILL... THEN SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW COULD FALL IN THE AREA.
