The North Clackamas School District laid off 60 teachers because of a $3 million budget shortfall, which has caused uncertainty for students and parents because no one knows which classes will have teachers.
The Vancouver School Board approved a new budget Thursday that will see fewer teachers and larger class sizes next year. Next year, 47 teachers will lose their jobs and those remaining will not get cost-of-living raises. Teacher aides will also have their work hours cut.
