Voters' Rights

-- You have the right to cast a ballot if you are a valid registered voter.

-- You have the right to cast a ballot if you are present and in line at the polling place prior to the close of the polls, or if your mailed ballot is recieved by 8 p.m. on Election Day. NOTE: Postmarks do not count!

--You have the right to cast a secret ballot free from intimidation.

-- You have the right to receive assistance in casting your ballot, if you are unable to vote without assistance.

-- You have the right to ask questions about election procedures and observe the elections process.

-- You have the right to ask questions of the precinct board and election officials regarding election procedures and to receive an answer or be directed to the appropriate official for an answer. However, if persistent questioning disrupts the execution of their duties, the board or election officials may discontinue responding to questions.

-You have the right to report any illegal, fraudulent, or discriminatory activity to a local elections official or to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Discrimination may occur in many different ways. These actions may be discrimination:
-A person registering voters refuses to give you a registration form.
-You are asked intimidating questions regarding issues such as race, creed, religion, color, national origin, gender, disability, or political affiliation.
-A person registering you fails to perform all duties required by law in connection with your voter registration.
-A person who registered you fails to turn in your registration by the deadline.

If you have witnessed or been a victim of discrimination, you should contact your County Election Office or the Oregon Secretary of State Election Division
