Al-Jazeera buys Current TV from Al Gore
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Al-Jazeera, the Pan-Arab news channel that has struggled to win space on American cable television, has acquired Current TV, Al Gore confirmed Wednesday.
Gore and his partner Joel Hyatt announced the sale in a statement.
"Current Media was built based on a few key goals: To give voice to those who are not typically heard; to speak truth to power; to provide independent and diverse points of view; and to tell the stories that no one else is telling," Gore and Hyatt said.
"Al-Jazeera has the same goals and, like Current, believes that facts and truth lead to a better understanding of the world around us."
The acquisition could extend Al-Jazeera's reach beyond a few large U.S. metropolitan areas, where some people can watch Al-Jazeera English.

Al put the Al in Al-Jazeera.This is just the start. Getting a foot hold in the U.S. market is just what the Arabs wanted. Funny how Al waited until the last day of the year to take advantage of Bush tax cuts. Hip hip...hurray, Al exploits the the good old U.S.A. Again! Suckers!

You have got to be effin' kidding me. No, wait. It's Al Gore. I used to read Al-Jazeera every day just to see what sort of complete nonsense they printed.To be fair, they have dramatically toned down the anti-west rhetoric over the last few years but, remember the doctored photo of Iranian missiles, etc... They have a type of journalism ethic that would appall westerners, but, I wouldn't equate it to facts or truth.

 @Playanekes Did you ever realize that they actually had one version of news in English and a different one ( and I mean different, with the angles/slants etc. of stories) in Arabic? I was shocked when one of my Arabs friends pointed this out when we were online looking at it, and could see the differences....As for Al Gore:  what a POS sex offender.
