Ariel Winter's dad opposes actress' guardianship

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The father of "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter is opposing a guardianship for the teenage actress and says he is willing to care for her.
Glenn Workman filed papers Monday objecting to stripping his estranged wife Chrisoula of custody of the 14-year-old. His protest comes one day before a Los Angeles judge is scheduled to hold a hearing in the case.
Workman was described in an October court filing as being unable to care for Winter.
But he says he is financially and emotionally capable of caring for her. He acknowledges Winter has a strained relationship with her mother.
Winter has been living with her adult sister since early October, when a judge temporarily stripped Chrisoula Workman of custody amid allegations she had been physically and emotionally abusive to the actress.

She's old enough to decide who she wants to live with, even if it isn't her parents, who seem screwed up anyway.
Is this another 14 year old spoiled brat with an attitude...(reminds me of Lindsey)...reminds me a bit of my daughter when she was that age...extremely obstinate...totally set on proving that ANYTHING her mother or I wanted her to do, or not do was wrong and she was right, and would do it anyway...and it almost got her killed by a boyfriend that she was not supposed to see. Loving parents...bad attitude kid? Seems like Lindsey went through similar things didn't she?

Yeah, your kid does sound like a brat; too bad for your experience and questionable parenting skills dealing with your kid. In your defense; it is a common problem. This whole social experiment to extend childhood until 30 is plain stupid; biology determines the end of childhood at sexual maturity...just as with any other species.

I don't know about Lohan. Her mother does not appear all that good of a parent.

I have not read much about this young woman so I am in no position to say, but your experience details mine as a brother of 4 sisters. Teenage girls war with their mothers as standard fair.

My father on the other hand could get through sometimes. So maybe a father is what this young girl needs. But I don't know if he is just out to get control of her money.
