Beyonce belts out national anthem live before lip sync admission

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Beyonce faced the music at a press conference Thursday before the Super Bowl, admitting that she did lip sync when she performed the national anthem on Inauguration Day.
The singer said she's a "perfectionist" and wanted her performance for President Barack Obama to be a memorable one. She called the day "emotional."
"I practice until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra," she said. "Due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk. It was about the president and the inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I'm very proud of my performance."
She opened her press conference in New Orleans with a live rendition of the national anthem. She asked those at the conference to stand before she belted "The Star Spangled Banner," and after she said with a laugh: "Any questions?"
The superstar hadn't spoken publicly since it was alleged that she lip-synched her rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at President Barack Obama's inauguration last week. Her critically praised performance came under scrutiny less than a day later when a representative from the U.S. Marine Band said she wasn't singing live and the band's accompanying performance was taped. Shortly after, the group backed off its initial statement and said no one could tell if she was singing live or not.
The halftime performance became a main focus of her afternoon press conference, even though she'd likely rather concentrate on questions about her set list for Sunday and her upcoming HBO documentary, "Life Is but a Dream," which shown for the media just before Beyonce spoke.
Beyonce has teased photos and video of herself preparing for the show, which will perhaps be the biggest audience of her career. Last year, Madonna's halftime performance was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance ever, with an average of 114 million viewers. It garnered more viewers than the game itself, which was the most-watched U.S. TV event in history.

What's the difference between lip syncing and using a teleprompter. Â Both just show that they don't have confidence in what they are doing.
A fake performance of the national anthem for a fake president. Somehow it's altogether fitting.
Uhhh, who cares. Get a real job lady.
Does anyone watch the halftime show anymore?

Between can visits (and the line), getting more beer, food and catching up on conversation, I barely get back to my seat before second half kickoff.

@Repoman  Um, according to the article "Last year, Madonna's halftime performance was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance ever, with an average of 114 million viewers. It garnered more viewers than the game itself, which was the most-watched U.S. TV event in history."
The worthless hack can't sing live w/o autotune, this isn't the 1st time she's done faux live performances!Â
Much ado about nothing. Beyonce did sing the national anthem. Whether she did it live or recorded ahead of time is really pretty irrelevant. I can think of a number of reasons why recording ahead of time would be the smart thing to do. Let's move on now, huh.
I disagree. This was a Presidential Inagural. Not the F-en Super Bowl. You don't disrespect the occasion for what seems like vanity on her part. She should rightly be skewered for her horrendous action. Its attitutes like yours that have cheapended the sense of patriotism in this country. Shame on her - and you. Â

No, just a passionate about my patriotism. There are few things left in this country that are considered sacred. The flag is one of the last thingsand  even it gets direspected by many unwitting people. It does not take too much brain power to know when you are in a solemn event and the respect that the event deserves. She walked all over it because of her vanity. It was more imprrtant to get seen I assume in her mind, than to be doing the singingthat people could hear. She is a POS in my opinion for the disrespect she showed the country, her people, and the office of the President. And if she took money over and above travel expenses, as has been said - she is even a bigger POS than I thought.
To me she wanted all the glory of the event, but none of the work/nerves that come with it.
She looks so good she can lip-synch anything she wants. And what kind of Marine rats someone out like that?
