Kurt Cobain's daughter: Courtney Love killed my pets
LOS ANGELES - Courtney Love is an unstable mother figure who killed her daughter's pets, constantly pops pills and starts fires by smoking in bed, according to newly released court documents.
The documents, deposition papers filed by Love's and Kurt Cobain's daughter in 2009 seeking a restraining order against Love were recently obtained by TheFix.com.
The daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, 19, says Love’s reckless behavior is a continual source of trouble, and even caused the death the family dog and cat.
According to the court papers, as quoted by TheFix.com, the incidents happened this way:
"Frances ... claimed that her cat died after getting entangled in piles of Etsy fabrics, boxes of paperwork, trash and other possessions, and that a dog died after swallowing a pile of Love’s pills.
"In addition to keeping Courtney away from Frances, Frances’ grandmother and Frances’ aunt, the restraining order also prevents Courtney from contact with Frances’s dog, Uncle Fester."
Cobain, whose father was the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, also laments Love’s worrying drug use in the court papers:
“(She) has taken drugs for as long as I can remember,” Cobain said. “She basically exists now on ... Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes. She rarely eats ... She often falls asleep in her bed while she is smoking, and I am constantly worried that she will start a fire (which she has done at least three times) that will threaten our lives.”
Cobain initially filed the restraining order against Love, 47, in Los Angeles Superior Court in December 2009 following a physical altercation between the two.
At the time, Cobain spoke out about another bizarre incident that occurred several years before. Cobain claimed Love dragged her to the home of Love’s former boyfriend, James Barber, and screamed at him from the lawn in her bare feet while she threw rocks at the house.
Mother and daughter have had a difficult relationship since the restraining order was granted.
Cobain became engaged to The Ramgles singer Isaiah Silva in October and they are looking forward to their upcoming wedding.
