Lindsay Lohan: Court-mandated motivational speaker?

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Lindsay Lohan's attorney has suggested to prosecutors that the actress serve as a motivational speaker and perform non-jail activities to resolve her latest criminal case, according to a letter obtained Tuesday.
The letter from lawyer Mark Heller proposed several alternatives for Lohan, who could be sent to jail if a judge determines her actions in a traffic crash violated terms of her probation in a previous theft case.
His letter states that Lohan's turbulent home life has deeply impacted her and requires a different approach in the case.
The actress plans to spend time recording public service announcements and make "periodic visits to schools, hospitals, and other venues where she may provide inspirational talks, encouraging children to pursue positive goals and avoid bad habits," states the letter filed on Friday and released by the court Tuesday.
Heller also proposed the establishment of a nonprofit foundation in Lohan's name to benefit young people.
The actress "has made a commitment to herself to elevate her life and participate in activities which will advance her desire to lead a model life," Heller wrote in a motion seeking a delay in the case that returns to court on Friday. Trial is now set for March 18.
Lohan is charged with three misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, lying to police and obstructing officers from performing their duties. She has pleaded not guilty.
The actress could face 245 days in jail if she is found to be in violation of her probation.
The star of "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" was sentenced to psychotherapy in November of 2011 in cases involving theft and drunken driving charges, but she has not been required to attend counseling since being placed on informal probation in March 2012.
Those terms were imposed by Judge Stephanie Sautner, who is retiring and will no longer handle Lohan's case.
The crash that prompted the current charges occurred in June on Pacific Coast Highway while Lohan was on the way to a movie shoot.
Terry White, chief deputy city attorney in Santa Monica, declined comment on the letter. He said discussions about a possible resolution are scheduled to take place this week.
Lohan, 26, was on her way to a beach shoot with another person for the TV movie "Liz and Dick" when her car crashed into the back of a dump truck. Police allege she lied about being behind the wheel.
Heller is also seeking dismissal of the charges against Lohan, arguing that police ignored her when she said she didn't want to be interviewed without her attorney present.
Lohan was at the hospital at the time, not in custody, and showed no signs of impairment when officers gave her a field sobriety test, the lawyer said.

More attorney rhetoric, hoping for a reduced sentence..trying to prep the judge into being lenient... Motivational speakers have earned their way by overcoming bad things...IF she cleans up, shows the public she has changed...in about 10 years, MAYBE. Or she might get a reduced sentence by bribing the judge by making private visits to his chambers...Until then...add up all the suspended/deferred/reduced sentences she has had...let her serve ALL of them, it will do one of two things. Either straighten her out, or more likely, just push her into porn where she will likely end up anyway, if she doesn't OD!
She is not an example for young people. Â
She has nothing motivational to say to anyone.
She needs drug rehab *uninterrupted; unhollywoodstyle; and real world type.
She needs full term jail time. Harsh reality time - full consequences for her actions and time to come clean from drugs and alcohol.
No more blaming her past for her current behaviors. Lots and lots of people had hellish childhoods, but they made the decision to move beyond that and live decent lives and not be druggies and boozers, etc. She had potential when she was a child, but the bad stuff took over and she's let it rule her life every since. It was her choice, not her parents. (Although, they are total losers too.)    Quit making excuses for her. Hold her accountable and face the consequences for once.
she should have to do porn!!
Lindsay Lohan as a motivational speaker? All she could motivate me to is barf.
For her own sake, she needs to go to jail. Â She needs to get away from her enablers and be given a chance to get sober for more than a few days. Â She also needs to learn that actions have consequences. Â
In this pic she is high as a kite...
Most motivational speakers, who truly motivate people, have accomplished recovery and coming back from the depths of some black hole....they have survived, acknowledged their demons and faced them head on, they have achieved success in that endeavor, and they want to help others. So, what exactly is Ms. Lohan going to talk about that will motivate others? I would not want her to "visit schools", there are enough bad influences in schools without adding her to the mix. If they would treat her like they treat any other offender for the same offense, that would do her more good than letting her come up with her own punishment. She's on a fast track to total destruction. Motivational speaking is not going to help her or anyone else.
She is now broke and her name is synonymous with failure.
How would she motivate anyone except to show them how to be a loser.
She looks totally wasted in that picture. The last thing she needs to do is go and talk to kids in school. She is NOT a role model...not even close. It's slammer time, baby!
When LL sees these pictures of herself as in the one above, does she really think she looks that good or does she see how tired and worn out she really looks?
What would she motivate people to do exactly? Drugs, crime?
What exactly is she going to motivate people to do, break laws and avoid jail time? Explain how to blame your parents for your lack of self-control, well into your 20's?
All things considered, this IS a pretty funny story!
@randola ......it's VERY funny !
This girl has put herself through the ringer and it shows. So sad.

Oh puhleeze, she's 26 years old, she needs to sit in jail for a bit.Â
She'll forget to show up or have a car wreck on the way to her motivational talk....or get in a fight or get picked up shoplifting or collapse or or or or....
I see the title now. "Do exactly the opposite of what I have done to be a success".
@Somonecaresaboutsomething Hey that's what I tell my kids!
Motivational speaker??? On what how to be a lifelong loser?!
Only if she is wearing less clothes.
