Miss Washington's swimsuit catches judges' attention
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Miss North Dakota and Miss Washington have picked up prizes in the third day of preliminary Miss America competition in Las Vegas.
Miss North Dakota Rosie Sauvageau took top honors Thursday after her piano and vocal rendition of "To Make You Feel My Love." The 24-year-old from Fargo, N.D., will take a $2,000 Amway scholarship home from the competition at Planet Hollywood resort.
Miss Washington Mandy Schendel took the trophy for the third round of the Lifestyle and Fitness category after modeling a strapless white Catalina swimsuit. The 22-year-old from Newcastle, Wash., earned a $1,000 Amway scholarship for it.
Contestants are divided into three groups and compete in different categories during three nights of preliminaries. Their scores factor in the finals that will be broadcast live on Saturday.

As long as this story is still getting top billing, I'd like to clarify my comment. First, those tits are absolutely artificial. The only reason anyone would think they're "proportional" is because so many girls, especially the skinny ones, have them now. If you're comparing her to girls you've seen on TV or movies or porn, your perspective is completely warped. Second, I never said she was anorexic and she obviously isn't -- the reason her lower abdomen/pelvic area is concave (and it is), is because she had colonic irrigation right before the pageant. If you don't believe me, do some reading on the subject. As to her face .... well, I've seen much prettier girls serving coffee, but they weren't as motivated to do the work necessary to display themselves on the pageant circuit. That is all.
I don't think it was the swimsuit that caught their eyes. ;)

I found it curious that Miss Washington's suit was the only one pure white....looked a bit like under garments to me! All the girls are knockout gorgeous....but it seems a little weird that we are still here. Parading pretty women across a stage and rating them on a scale so that one is a winner and the others, not!Â

Yeah I'm with ya. I am not big on "beauty pageants". But I have a caveat.

I once did stage work for a miss pageant when I was in high school (talk about the best gig a high school boy could get). And I saw the WORK these young women do to prepare for that "parading" across the stage.

Even then seeing what were really my peers (17-19 year old "women") prepping, rehearsing, using all kinds of tools, tricks and techniques to wow the judges, showed me the business behind the pretty.

It looked just like my locker room before a game. People looking at the playbook (rehearsing), people getting "suited up", people jumping, hopping and getting themselves amped to deal with nerves, keep up their energy and get their mind ready for the challenge ahead.

So in essence to me a pageant is little more than sport. It, like soccer, is one I am just not interested in.

Although it can provide interesting moments, and some nice views.

Yeah, she looks really good, but I still find it bizarre that we give people (mostly women) monetary awards to do nothing other than look good. This is really just one click above a strip show, which is really just a click or two above prostitution. Why aren't people troubled by this? Or are we too busy "adjusting ourselves" to really think about it? Geez, at least Miss North Dakota had to play a piano and sing..
