Voice of Elmo on leave after disputing sex abuse claims
The man who performs the voice of the popular muppet Elmo is taking a leave of absence from the long-running children’s show Sesame Street.
Kevin Clash is accused of having sex with an underage boy. Clash is not denying the relationship but he disputes the timing.
The allegations surfaced this summer when a 23-year-old man alerted the show that he had an inappropriate relationship with Clash that began when he was 16 years old.
Clash claims it was a relationship between two consenting adults.
The show investigated the abuse claims and found Clash didn't do anything illegal but did say Clash did "violate its code of conduct.”
Clash was recently the subject of a documentary about his many years voicing and performing the Elmo character.
Kevin Clash could run for Mayor of any large liberal city! And win!

His punishment will be minor and he will be back once the hubbub dies down.

Depending on the state 16 is considered a minor and not an adult. Depending on the state that would make Clash a gay pedophile and subject to prosecution and having to register as a sex offender. If it was in NY then the age of consent is 17 and he should be prosecuted.
@RalphCramden Not quite sure if being in violation of the age of consent law would legally lable him as a pedophile. If there was a violation, he would most likely be referred to as a homosexual sex offender.
A new meaning to tickle me Elmo.
