Woman killed when oncoming pickup crosses into her lane

SALEM, Ore. - A woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday morning on Highway 22 west of Salem.
The crash happened around 7:10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near the Highway 51 junction.
According to the Oregon State Police, a Chevrolet pickup driven by a 60-year-old Gervais man was headed westbound on Highway 22 when it crossed the center line into the eastbound lane.
The pickup collided with two other vehicles - a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 35-year-old Falls City man and a car driven by a woman. Both drivers had tried to avoid the crash but were unable to steer clear.
The woman, 32-year-old Emily Sue Campbell of Dallas, was killed in the crash. The two other drivers were transported to Salem Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Crash investigators are looking into what happened.
Some people are posting the photos on their FB pages, really low.
See what happens when drunk illegal immigrants drive on our highways! No license! No insurance! No worries! No respect for our laws or culture! Just trying to improve his life! What a waste!

Horrific. Can't believe only one person died.
Condolences to the family and friends of the victims.
As usual, the driver that killed the woman survives.....
@Fake Pilot it wasn't 7:30am. I drove past there about 7:15am and it had already happened. It was more like 6:45am probably.
I thought this was an update? WTF, did they change a word in the article or something? Perhaps they fixed a spelling or grammatical error.
Ah, the update is in. Hey, KATU, next time, wait until you actually UPDATE the story before adding the "update" next to the headline. TYVM
It all boils down to driver's error! Weather has little to do with it! The primary responsibility of any driver is to maintain control under all circumstances. That includes weather and all other traffic conditions.
Oh boy... I really, really don't like that highway; don't drive on it unless I absolutely HAVE to... I'm not sure what there is about it, but it sure seems to attract the speeders and crazy drivers; we've had some AWFUL crashes on that road... some, even in good weather..!
Everybody wants to blame accidents on the weather. Yes, weather may be the catalyst but what kills is driving too fast and carelessly for the conditions. Most people take it for granite that all people are careful but thats just not the case.
@ritfam There's a reason that most insurance agencies and law enforcement agencies now refer to them as collisions rather than accidents. They are seldom, if ever, truly an 'accident'.Â
@ritfam  Suffice it to say that driving carelessly is a big problem in all accidents. Never mind the speed or conditions. Carelessness is enough to kill.  Ya gotta pay attention at all times!
("take it for granite"? I think you mean "take it for granted".)
Picture looks awfully dark for 7:30 a.m..
This is one of the worst intersections in the state. Â Really sad. Â I hope they get working on the new interchange soon.
It rained hard last night, then cleared up & dropped below freezing...I am surprised that there was only one bad wreck.
I will venture to say that slick roads played a part in this. After all, we had a dusting of snow on the deck this morning in Vancouver.
Ya, I know that area. Two cars doing the speed limit, one maybe driving a little two close and the third car cutting across traffic. Very sad.
Since they were heading east towards Salem, speed may have been a factor in their getting to work on time?
@jpk  If that proves true, we should ban commuting to work. Or maybe just ban workplaces. Or working.

@Fruity Pebbles You mean St pattys week? I like it
Very dangerous intersection, people always trying to turn left across traffic and at 55-60 mph you have to be quick.
So sad. It was very icy in Keizer this morning. I wonder if weather was a factor. :(
Three cars in one crash? That is like a NASCAR wreck; what are the odds that it was unavoidable. Â
So sad for the family of the dead person; you deserved better.
Maybe some black ice? It's pretty cold.
