EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon posted a school-record 59 first-half points against the University of New Mexico on the way to a 72-0 win for its season opener game Saturday afternoon.

This NCAA college-football game also ties the Autzen Stadium high-score record of 72 to 10 versus Nevada in 1999, according to KATU's Eugene sister station KVAL.

University of Oregon's 720 total yards during Saturday's game also marked a school record for total yardage.

Ducks footballer Kenjon Barner also equaled Saladin McCullough's modern day record (versus Arizona in 1996) with five touchdowns in the game. All five of Barner's touchdowns came in the first half.

The Oregon defense pitched a shutout with five takeaways, three fumbles and two interceptions. This year's defensive team allowed the University of New Mexico's Lobos to run just 107 total yards.
