Ore. students now can use spell check on writing tests

SALEM, Ore. – Beginning this school year, Oregon students in the 7th through 12th grades taking writing tests will be allowed to use spell-checking software.

That's a decision made by officials for the State of Oregon.

Oregon Department of Education officials defend the decision by saying that spell-checkers in the workplace and college are so widespread that it makes sense to let students use them on the tests.

What do you think about this? We ask you "Do you think it's appropriate for students to use spell-checking software on state writing tests?" Vote and give us your thoughts.
