PORTLAND, Ore. - A Multnomah County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a crash on Interstate 84 Thursday night after being hit by a suspected drunken driver, according to a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
The deputy received non-life threatening injuries and she was taken to an area hospital, according to Lt. Mary Lindstrand.
According to Lindstrand, the deputy was parked on the side of the highway in the westbound lanes of the interstate at milepost 18 while patrolling in a construction zone and was inside the car when the accident happened. Milepost 18 is near Troutdale and near where the highway crosses the Sandy River.
The accident happened at about 8 p.m. and the driver, who's name has not been released, was arrested.
