VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - Vancouver Police say a 19-year-old man died in the 700 block of Southeast Chkalov Drive Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash.

Police identified the man killed as Justin Bacon of Vancouver.

Bacon died at the scene before police arrived, and it appears no other vehicles were involved.

Police say Bacon's 1993 BMW 525i left the roadway, collided with a fire hydrant and then hit a street light, causing it to flip. The vehicle traveled on its roof into a strip mall parking lot and came to rest upside down.

Investigators say Bacon did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A witness at a nearby gas station said the car was traveling at high speed.

Contributing factors such as excessive speed and intoxication are being investigated.

Southeast Chkalov Drive was closed to northbound traffic at McGillivray Boulevard while police investigated. Southbound traffic just south of Mill Plain Boulevard and to westbound traffic at Southeast 7th Street were also affected.

The street closures were in place until about 8 a.m. The incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m.
