PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The case of Snowball the doe is heading for the Oregon Court of Appeals.

The Oregon attorney general's office filed an appeal Tuesday in the dispute over the deer with leg deformities raised by a Molalla family that spent thousands of dollars on veterinary bills.

The state seized the deer last month, saying Jim Filipetti had no right under state wildlife laws to keep the animal that has been his pet for the past six years.

The state is appealing an order last week from a Clackamas County judge, who ordered Snowball to be returned to Filipetti

While the court case continues, Snowball remains at a state wildlife center in Corvallis.
