ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Brenden Adams may be the only one in the world with a mysterious condition that has always made him stand out.

At just 4 months old, Adams had all of his teeth.

"In kindergarten, I was as tall as the fourth graders," Adams said.

And in the following years, Adams just kept growing and growing.

When he was 5, he was as tall as his older brother, who was more than twice his age.

In the last two-and-a-half years, Adams grew another 15 inches and now stands nearly 7 feet tall. He is only 12.

Adams finally stopped growing this year, but he's got other medical conditions, including extremely large joints. With his towering height and oversized joints, simple tasks have gotten harder over the years.

"Pretty much every place I go, I have to duck," Adams said. "Getting my socks on is kind of harder."

Doctors can't explain the reason behind Adams' accelerated growth and therefore cannot offer any any treatment. They also can't reassure Adams' family that he will live a long life.

And Adams himself doesn't have much to say about his condition either because to him he's just like any other 12-year-old boy.

"I'm a little better at basketball than some others," he said.

Next month Adams and his family plan to move into a new home with taller ceilings and doorways.

The family's friends recently held a fund-raiser to help Adams buy new furniture that he can comfortably fit in.
