Police: DUI drivers cause two crashes

By KATU Web Staff

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Two suspected drunk drivers are under arrest after police say they caused chaos in two different Vancouver neighborhoods Thursday.

The first incident involved a Subaru station wagon that crashed into the side of a Starbucks coffee shop Thursday.

The impact sent customers rushing into the streets, but no injuries were reported.

In another crash, police say a driver rear-ended a car then ran his pick-up truck through two yards, destroying landscaping and taking out two fences.

No serious injuries were reported.

State police agencies in Oregon and Washington say they have extra patrols on duty due to higher incidences of intoxicated drivers during the holidays.
