By KATU Web Staff and Associated Press

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. - An Army sergeant reported missing along the Oregon coast may be on her way back to Fort Lewis to turn herself in.

On Friday, KATU News sent a message to Julie Ann Stendahl through her MySpace page.  A woman claiming to be her wrote us back, saying she is aware that she is AWOL.

According to police in Lincoln City, Stendahl was to be deployed to Iraq at the end of October, but she has not been seen or heard from in about two weeks.

Stendahl's black Mazda pickup was found abandoned in a public parking lot with state park receipts inside, the last dated Nov. 3.  Police labeled her disappearance suspicious.

An Army spokesman said Stendahl is assigned to the 62nd Medical Brigade.
