Police are still investigation the Tuesday night shooting that left a man dead in a Myrtle Creek apartment.

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- A man was shot and killed during a disturbance in a Myrtle Creek apartment.

Police were called to the Myrtle Terrace apartment complex on Simpson Lane around 9:15 Tuesday, after Robert Brandon Young, 28, of Myrtle Creek, called 911 and reported that he had shot an intruder.

Police from several different agencies responded, and found Brian Douglas Woodruff, 38, also of Myrtle Creek, dead in the apartment from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police at the scene say three people were taken to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for questioning, but self defense has not been ruled out at this point.

The Douglas County Sheriff's office says that Young has been cooperative in the investigation.

Young told police he acted in self defense after Woodruff forced his way into the apartment and threatened him.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team was called in to help the Myrtle Creek Police investigate what led up to the shooting.
