WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. - A 17-year-old girl was killed Monday when her car ran off the road and landed in a ravine.

The accident happened Monday morning on Cornelius Pass Road between Skyline Boulevard and Highway 30.

Multnomah County deputies said the teen was on her way to Warren when she lost control of her car and slid down a 60-foot embankment.

It wasn't until 4 p.m. that someone noticed car tracks going off the road. Emergency crews found the girl's car upside down and partially submerged in a creek.

Deputies said the road was icy and speed may have been a factor in causing the crash.

Cornelius Pass Road was closed for more than four hours while crews put down gravel.

The family asked that her name not be released until other relatives were notified.
