PORTLAND, Ore. - Police have few clues to go on in a deadly hit-and-run that killed a 21-year-old woman.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at Northeast 82nd and Alderwood.
Wednesday Portland police identified the victim as 21-year-old Abaynesh Awokie of Portland.
She was wearing dark clothing was killed instantly as she walked across the street. Her body was found just feet from the crosswalk.
Those who work near the intersection say it's a dangerous one.
"The people come from 82nd very fast through here, there isn't a whole lot of area for pedestrians to be safe," said Red Lion employee Jason Luczkow.
Police believe the vehicle that hit Awokie was likely a large semi and it is possible the driver didn't know that someone had been hit.
