200 gallons of oil spills at John Day Dam

RUFUS, Ore. – Two hundred gallons of oil spilled at the John Day Dam on the Columbia River Tuesday, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Spokeswoman Diana Fredlund said the spill came from a generating unit at the dam.

That unit has been shut down to prevent more oil from leaking into the river.

Engineers are working to figure out the cause of the leak and repair it, according to Fredlund.
