KING CITY, Ore. – A King City woman is using her coupon-clipping skills to help troops overseas feel closer to home.
Jenn Fair created “Operation Christmas Glory." She spends pennies on the dollar to send thousands of items in care packages to the troops. Now, those packages are starting to arrive.
“A lot of the female boxes have the fuzzy slippers and when we heard back from them that was a huge hit,” Fair said.
Since KATU News first introduced you to Fair back in August, she says she’s more than accomplished her mission.
“I turned $20 now into $1,000 worth of product,” Fair said.
She buys basic - but high quality - supplies for troops, who say they’re as good as Christmas gifts.
“The fact that someone went out of their way to find a coupon or something to buy this expensive stuff, we get really excited, plus it smells good!” said Army Specialist Keala Burks.
“Mail call is our favorite part of the day. That’s what we look forward to and everybody gets so excited.”
Fair says it’s all more motivation for her. She considers the troops her family.
“You can’t just leave somebody out there when you know you can help them,” Fair said.
