15 Gladstone homes evacuated after natural gas leak

GLADSTONE, Ore. – 15 homes were evacuated in Gladstone while crews attempted to fix a natural gas leak Wednesday morning.

Gladstone Fire spokesman Kirk Stempel said the homes in the 200 block of West Fairfield Street were evacuated as a precaution.

West Fairfield Street was closed while crews from Northwest Natural Gas worked to stop the leak.

Stempel said the gas was shut off and residents were allowed to return to their homes around 11 a.m.
