BEAVERTON, A head-on collision that sent two people to the hospital - and forced the closure of Highway 26 so LifeFlight could land - happened when a driver suffered a seizure, according to the Beaverton Police Department.

The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday on westbound Highway 26, just west of the Bethany on-ramp between Northwest Bethany Boulevard and Northwest 185th Street.

According to police, 22-year-old Timothy Baughman of St. Helens was headed east on Highway 26 when he suffered a seizure, lost control of his car and crossed the median into oncoming traffic.

Baughman's car struck another car head-on. When emergency responders arrived, they had to free him from his vehicle. He was then flown by LifeFlight to the hospital.

Sarah Han, 24, was driving the other vehicle and had to be rescued as well. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.
