The Oregon Humane Society is looking for great pictures of cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, horses and other pets for its 17th annual Fuzzy, Furry and Feathered Friends Photo Contest.  The contest is open until May 31, 2008.

Winners will see photos of their pets published in the full-color OHS Magazine and will also receive great prizes from Pro Photo Supply and Canon.

Prizes will be awarded for the best photos in the  following  categories: Top Dog, Top  Cat, Top  Other Animal (rabbit, bird, etc.), Funniest photo, Child with Pet,  Me & My Pet, Editor’s Choice, and Grand Prize. "Me & My Pet" is a new category for 2008, and focuses on adults posing with their favorite furry or feathered friend.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a Canon Rebel XSi Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm lens. The winners of the best dog, cat and other animal photos each get a $100 gift card to Pro Photo Supply. Winners of the remaining categories receive a $50 gift card.

All winning photos will be published in the summer issue of the OHS Magazine. Entries must be postmarked or delivered to OHS by May 31, 2008. Winners will be announced by the end of June, 2008. Visit www.oregonhumane.org for contest details and tips on taking great photos.

There is a $5 entry fee for the first five photos, and all entry fees go directly to help animals at the Oregon Humane Society, the largest and oldest animal shelter in the Northwest. 

Contest Particulars

• Send any size photograph up to 8x10 (no slides, negatives, photocopies, or e-mails).
• Digital photos must be on high quality photo paper. Label each photograph with submitter’s name, address, telephone number, and the pet’s name.
• Include a $5 entry donation per household with your photo(s). The $5 fee covers the first five photos submitted; there is a $1 fee for each additional photo after the first five entries. There is no limit to the number of photos that can be entered. 
• Checks should be written to “Oregon Humane Society.”  Proceeds go directly to helping find homes for animals at the OHS shelter.
• Send or deliver to: Photo Contest, Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland, OR  97211. Postmark or deliver by 7:00 pm, May 31, 2008. Entries can also be hand delivered to Pro Photo, 1112 NW 19th, Portland, OR, by May 31, 2008. 
  Employees of contest sponsors and OHS are not eligible to enter.
• All entries become the property of the Oregon Humane Society, which may, at its discretion, copy, edit, publish, use, adapt, and/or modify entries in any manner, in any and all media, without limitation. Submitter does not relinquish rights to use photo in any way.
