PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Environmental activist Tre Arrow pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and arson charges against him in U.S. District Court in Portland Monday.

The 34-year old environmentalist appeared before Judge Dennis Hubel after seeking asylum in Canada since 2004 and fighting extradition.

The judge scheduled Arrow's trial for May 6 and ordered Arrow be held as a flight risk and potential danger pending the trial.

Hubel also ordered the Multnomah County jail to provide Arrow with a raw vegan diet as soon as possible.

Arrow is accused of taking part in acts of destruction and is well known for camping out on a ledge on the U.S. Forest Service building in downtown Portland for several days during the summer of 2000.
