Longview teacher, second man accused of sex with same 15-year-old
KELSO, Wash. (AP) - A Longview teacher and a second man are being held for investigation of having sex with the same 15-year-old girl.
Bail was set Monday at $75,000 for 25-year-old Joseph Ryan Starkey and at $20,000 for 38-year-old Dennis Edward Baker. Starkey is under investigation for 13 counts of third-degree child rape, Baker for 16 counts of the same offense and both for furnishing liquor to a minor.
Starkey told police the 15-year-old girl at the center of the case was in his mathematics class at R.A. Long High School. He is also an assistant coach for the boys soccer team.
Police say the two men were arrested Saturday following a tip that a runaway girl was at the teacher's apartment.
School Principal Andrew Frost says officials are cooperating in the investigation.
