GRESHAM, Ore. – Two people were injured Saturday when they were struck by a vehicle while crossing a main Gresham thoroughfare, police said.

Reatta L. Harris, 59, and Ycedera Rhodes, 47, both of Portland, were taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, where they were listed in serious but stable condition Saturday.

According to Gresham police Sgt. Claudio Grandjean, the pair were trying to cross Southeast Division Street near Southeast 176th Avenue after 4 p.m. when they were hit by a small passenger car in the westbound lanes. The pedestrians were not using a crosswalk at the time and had to cross four lanes of traffic and a middle turn lane to get from the north side of the street to the south side, Grandjean said.

The driver, Muong Song Lor, 44, of Portland, remained at the scene and was cooperating with police, who said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash, he said. The posted speed limit is 40 mph.

She was not immediately cited.

Police temporarily closed down the westbound lanes of Southeast Division Street near the collision while investigating the incident.
