CORNELIUS, Ore. - A toddler who was rushed to the hospital after being pulled from the Tualatin River has died.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at Steamboat Park in Cornelius.

According to the police chief in Cornelius, rescue crews performed CPR on the 4-year-old child, who was then taken by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, where he later died.

Police identified the boy Wednesday as Jorge Luis Garfia, who lived near the park.

The toddler was reportedly out of his parents' sight for about 15 minutes before being discovered in the river, which is very cold this time of year.

Police were still investigating the incident but said it appeared to be just an accident.
