BEND, Ore. (AP) - A large boulder struck and killed a 5-year-old Central Oregon boy playing near a quarry.

Gabriel Brisbine of Sisters died at St. Charles Medical Center, where he was taken by relatives after getting hit by the boulder Tuesday night.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office says the boy and his 10-year-old brother were playing in an area where their relatives were conducting business. Gabriel fell as he tried to climb down a rocky slope and the boulder struck him.

Sheriff's investigators declared the death an accident, but the district attorney's office will review it.
