PORTLAND, Ore. – A man charged with stabbing a Lake Oswego man to death is being investigated in a Kelso, Wash. murder, KATU News has learned.
Sources with knowledge of the investigation told KATU News that Erik John Meiser is being investigated in the murder of Nick Fickett.
Fickett, 29, was stabbed to death at a campsite along the Cowlitz River in July. Investigators at the time called Fickett’s death suspicious.
Meiser has not been charged with Fickett’s murder.
Meiser is in jail, accused of burglarizing the Lake Oswego home of 57-year-old Fredrick "Fritz" Hayes and then stabbing him to death in front of his wife.
He was arrested at a Corvallis, Ore. motel by a team of U.S. Marshals after a national manhunt.
Authorities said there was no indication Meiser and Hayes knew each other before the attack.
